It was March 2025, in a place that cannot be found on any map because it exists both everywhere and nowhere. A city of towering sentinel skylines and crumbling small businesses, where the streets spill out into quaint rolling suburban hills dotted with over-priced homes, desperate HOA complaints, and Arby’s.
A moment of silence fell upon the world.
A gaunt old man, having spent the morning shitposting from the safety of his burner account, strutted towards his Tesla with an inflated sense of triumph, his step unnaturally light with a fleeting lease of confidence—until he froze. His knees buckled. He extended a trembling hand, reaching—not for power, not for wealth, but for something greater (not to mention super cute). There beneath his feet was a small brown kitten.
A bulbous Karen who had been angrily recording her confrontation with a minimum-wage food service worker suddenly became silent for the first time, as she too took notice.
One set of weathered eyes —apprehensive and silent, became visible from the second story window of a bank across the street which had been boarded up and barricaded in the wake of recent protests. What none of these onlookers yet knew was that this was not just a stary cat who spawned in the nearby tree line by chance.
Not born. Not found. Summoned.
"From the depths of humanity’s collective consciousness—woven from whispered prayers, desperate hopes, and the final, unspoken cries of a species teetering on the edge—it emerged. A small, fragile thing, yet burdened with the weight of all that was lost, all that was feared, and all that still clung to the fraying edges of our lives on this Earth."
-As one insightful TikToker put it
“BRO WTF?? LMAO.” - reflected another
Silence hung in the air, thick with something unspoken, something ancient, something… undeniably adorable.
The gaunt old man dared not move. The bulbous Karen clutched her phone, and shifted nervously, overweight and out of breath somehow despite standing completely still. The shadow in the window remained still, eyes locked onto the tiny harbinger of fate. The kitten sat complacently. And in that moment, humanity stood at a crossroads.
Destiny had arrived. It was time to spread the word.
The Day everything Changed
